Writeup
Robert and Terryn meet
Some men have gone fishing. Some of Roberts “troublesome lot” have lured some of the turb on an unauthorized fishing expedition. Unknown to the players, the “fishing hole” is actually a place of known danger. One of Robert’s crowd “heard” of it from someone in town.
The slaver (Martain) has actually been doing a little business with the covenant already. He was bringing new stock of slaves to have the guys look them over and maybe buy some. They meet the slaver in Nohedes. He is missing a couple of slaves. Manacles have been skillfully removed. Tracking them leads toward the same place the men have gone.
To the lake
Tracks lead to the lake and disappear. Eventually the naiads take an interest, and show up. Robert shoots one, killing it in a single shot. The naiads have taken the men below. It is unclear what the state of the men is.
Players use an upside down boat to get to the bottom and the castle.
The domain of the naiads is an underwater castle made of water plants, rocky spires, chunks of ice, and so forth. Kind of a “naturalistic” feel to it, but that mimics the buildings of humans. The men do not want to be rescued (part of the charm) and actively fight.
The group finds that they cannot get out of the area around it because the trees have closed off all access. Someone has set loose a powerful, “evil” force here to kill the trespassers.
They try to explain things to their unseen assailant. He is outside the ring of trees (playing it smart). They realize that they have been set up, and maybe convince him that he has as well. The jailer indicates that he was “told” that they would be coming to kill the naiads. The jailer indicates that the naiads have lived in peace here for a good long time (many years). Once it was clear that they should not be approached, there was no problem, until these guys showed up. He suspects that they sent their men here to have an excuse to come kill the naiads.
The jailer lets them go (they were convincing enough).
